Local information & Things to do...

Our self catering holiday homes are situated in the Westhoek region in Flanders, Belgium, within 10 miles of the city of Ypres.

The cottages are surrounded by rural countryside with many footpaths to explore the local area and visit the many charming pubs.

The typical hilly character of the area makes it a place of intense natural beauty. It is a succession of magnificent panoramic views, wooded slopes, nature reserves and broad farmlands.

The region offers a variety of possibilities and surprising extras. Whether you’re interested in the war past or you love the authentic tastes and dishes or you just want to relax in a green environment: you’ll find it all in here.

In Ypres, you can experience what the Great War was really like, but the medieval centre of the city offers you also a wonderful local shopping.

The Western Front battles left a scarred landscape in Belgian Flanders. Various preserved sites of battlefield remains and war graves can be visited.

A short car journey away is the historic town of Bruges in Flanders. Known as the Venice of the North, Bruges is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. In 2000, UNESCO prompted the entire historical city centre on the World Heritage list!

You can even take a day trip to France. The city of Lille are 40 minutes away by car and has a wonderful historical centre. There, you can even take the eurostar train services to Paris or Brussels (2 hours train time).
